Bulk Price Editing

8 min read

Price updates are one of the most common tasks for Shopify store owners. Whether you're running a sale, adjusting for inflation, or updating your entire catalog, ProductManager makes it fast and safe with previews and automatic backups.

What You'll Learn

  • Different pricing operations (increase, decrease, set, round)
  • Working with percentages vs fixed amounts
  • Previewing changes before applying
  • Using automatic backups for safety
  • Updating compare-at prices for sales

Selecting Products

Before bulk editing prices, you need to select the products you want to update:

  • Click a row to select one product
  • Ctrl+Click to add individual products to selection
  • Shift+Click to select a range
  • Ctrl+A to select all visible products
Pro Tip: Use filters first to narrow down to the products you want, then select all visible with Ctrl+A.

Opening the Bulk Price Editor

  1. Select the products you want to update
  2. Click Bulk Edit in the toolbar
  3. Select Prices from the dropdown

Price Operations

Increase by Percentage

Perfect for across-the-board price increases. Enter 10 to increase all prices by 10%.

Decrease by Percentage

Great for sales. Enter 20 for a 20% discount across selected products.

Increase by Amount

Add a fixed amount to every price. Enter 5 to add $5 to each product.

Decrease by Amount

Subtract a fixed amount from every price.

Set to Amount

Set all selected products to the same price.

Round Prices

Round prices to nice numbers (e.g., $19.99 or $20.00).

Previewing Changes

Always preview before applying:

  1. Configure your price operation
  2. Click Preview
  3. Review the before/after comparison
  4. Look for any unexpected results

The preview shows you exactly what will change, including products with variants that have different prices.

Compare-At Prices

To show a sale price with strikethrough:

  1. First, copy current prices to compare-at prices
  2. Then decrease the regular prices by your discount percentage

This creates the "Was $X, Now $Y" display in your store.

Automatic Backups

Every bulk price operation creates an automatic backup. To restore:

  1. Go to ToolsBackup Manager
  2. Find your price backup by date/time
  3. Select the products to restore
  4. Click Restore

Best Practices

  • Always preview before applying
  • Start with a small selection to test
  • Use filters to ensure you're editing the right products
  • Check the backup was created before making more changes
